Dharma Sri Abeyratne in Ampara
The government has taken steps to provide the people with everything
they need, except the lives lost during the three decades of terrorism,
President Mahinda Rajapaksa said.
The President said so during an observation tour of the Deyata Kirula
National Development Exhibition site yesterday.
“Sri Lanka is the motherland for all communities. But during the
terror period, people fled their native places fearing for their lives.
Such a miserable situation will not occur again since the brutal
terrorism has been eradicated by the government. All communities are now
living freely without any fear,” the President said.
The President visited several stalls including the stalls of the
Economic Development, Mass Media and Information, Transport and other
ministries. President Rajapaksa also visited the stalls of the Security
Forces including Civil Security Force and the Special Task Force.
Entering the media zone, the President visited the Lake House stall.
President Rajapaksa handed over appointment letters of permanency to
newly appointed graduates recruited to the state service. He also handed
over Ranbima deeds to 1,000 families in the Eastern Province.
Addressing the newly recruited graduates, the President said it is
their duty to serve the poor people in the country.
