Facilities are available at the Mattala Rajapaksa International
Airport to provide aviation fuel in excess of the required quantity for
aircraft landing at the airport, CPC Operation Manager (Aviation)
Dhammika Mallikarachchi told the Daily News.
Responding to media reports, the Operation Manager said a SriLankan
Airlines flight was delayed 45 minutes last Sunday due to a technical
failure of two refuellers and they were restored immediately.
“Some newspapers reported that there had been a delay in transporting
fuel to the airport and there are not enough facilities to store
aviation fuel at the airport. There is no issue in providing aviation
fuel as facilities are sufficient to cater to the present fuel demand,”
he said.
He said the facilities available could store 30,000 litres of fuel at
the airport and also have 30,000 litres more on standby in bowsers.
