SAARC Artists' Camp and Exhibition of Paintings-2013 in Maldives
Over the last two years the SAARC Cultural Centre has created the
space for Artists from the SAARC Region to gather together and put
forward their creative expressions on canvass at the SAARC Artist Camp
held in 2011 and 2012 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
This year, artists from the region are called to the beautiful
islands of the Maldives, where they will exhibit their paintings as well
as paint on site until March 28.
Against the scenic background of the Maldive Islands, artists would
be given an opportunity to mingle, and create over a period of four
days.
The paintings that they will work on site, will also be exhibited on
the final day of the Artist Camp. Over the years, an atmosphere of
interaction and friendship was seen among the Artists through the medium
of art, where cultural connectivity and cultural exchange was the main
objective of all activities. While art has evolved over the years, South
Asia has seen its unique art forms which have their own mark. The SAARC
Region has seen many a form of art, either from primitive cave scrawling
and pictures to sophisticated varieties of art that is now found
globally.
Artists have emerged from the region, and there are also a vast
number of talented artists in the region exploring different forms of
art.
This year, the Artist Camp will focus on the next generation, giving
young artists from the region an opportunity to not merely showcase
their work, but also interact with Young Artists from the Region.
Artists will be given an opportunity to paint over a period of four
days on site, in keeping with a choice of themes, namely 'Futuristic
Visions,' 'Tropical Paradise' and the 'Need for change.' Parallel to the
camp there will also be an exhibition of paintings by the nominated
artists participating at the artist camp at the National Art Gallery,
Maldives. |
