Janadhipathi Balika Vidyalaya, Nawala has always been a leader in the
field of Hockey from the past. The under 19 Hockey team has yet again
been able to defeat all their opponents to win the All Island Hockey
Championship - 2013" of the tournament held at Vadukkodai Grounds,
Jaffna from March 6 to 9.
Twelve Teams participated at this tournament where Janadhipathi
Balika was able to outshine all the rest with the 17 goals achieved in
the tournament. In the quarter finals, they had face Sri Sumangala
Vidyalaya Panadura and was able to win 6 goals to nil. At the
semi-finals, they had to face the talented Seethadevi Vidyalaya, Kandy
and was able to defeat them with 2 goals to nil.
The strong Sangamiththa team was also crushed for two goals to nil at
the final.
The gems of Janadhipathi Balika who excelled at their tournament was
able to win another medal in winning the title of "The Most Outstanding
Player" of the tournament.
The Champion team coached by senior national coach A N Perera, Mrs
Anjana Abeyrathne teacher in charge and Miss Lakshi Uthpala and Mrs
Thushani Waniganetthi as assistant teacher's in charge. |
