Attack on two Buddhist monks
Grand Mosque condemns
The Colombo Grand Mosque condemns the attack on two Buddhist monks in
India, chief imam Moulavi M S M Thasleem said in a release.
"We vehemently condemn the brutal attack on the two Buddhist
prelates. It is our duty to respect religious heads of all faiths,"
Moulavi Thasleem said.
The release added: " We request the Indian government to take action
against those responsible for these attacks."
Cowardly attack, says Praba Ganesan
The recent attacks on Sri Lankan monks in Tamil Nadu by unruly
elements are not only deplorable but also have to be condemned by all
peace loving people throughout the world, MP Praba Ganeshan said.
"The law enforcement authorities of Tamil Nadu have to take this very
seriously and put an end to these incidents with immediate effect. This
kind of cowardly attacks will not help solve any problems but only help
escalate tension between the two countries and enhance ethnic tension in
Sri Lanka where reconciliation is taking place. The issues created by
these dastardly attacks would be taken as opportunities by extremist
elements in Sri Lanka to promote hatred among the majority which could
cause serious damages to the ethnic relationship in Sri Lanka," he said
in a release.
Extremist leaders in Tamil Nadu are duty bound to think about the two
million Tamils living in Sri Lanka. |
