Upcountry vegies in Delft

The experimental cultivation of up country vegetables in the arid zone of Delft has paid dividends. Cabbage, carrot, beetroot and beans were cultivated in four acres of land by sixteen cultivators.

The seeds for vegetable cultivation were issued free by the local agriculture instructor. They hope to extend the vegetable cultivation to other parts of Delft giving them the seeds and fertiliser.

Sajeevi Lokaya – a compilation of newspaper articles written on views expressed by Ven Gnanawimala Maha Nayake Thera in interviews conducted by Charmika Munasinghe will be launched on Thursday, March 28 at 3.00 pm. The launching will take at the National Library Service Auditorium Colombo. The event also marks the 94th birthday of the Nayaka Thera.
