The spiritual leader did not go up to the summit with the group, but
instead requested local volunteers to find the injured monkey, which
they were unable to do. He refused to leave Sigiriya until the monkey
was found and stated that “ it is important to take care of innocent
living beings and saving their lives is equivalent to making offering to
100 Buddhas.”
The Police, residents and Wildlife Department officials also joined
in the search for the injured monkey. The injured monkey was found by
Kyabje Thuksey Rinpoche and a group of 10 nuns. The chain has been
removed and it is now receiving treatment.
Spiritual leader Drukpa, an active proponent of peace and harmony
through the promotion of love and compassion is in Sri Lanka for the
peace Pada Yatra. |
