Temple in Navakkuli for displaced Buddhists

The Zurich Hindu Buddhist Association has drawn up plans to build a
temple in Navakkuli, Jaffna for Sinhalese who had to abandon their
proprieties and flee the North due to terrorist activities, Hindu
Buddhist Association President T Logeswaran said.

This act will be one more step in the on going efforts to build and
foster ethnic and religious harmony between different communities, he
said.
This proposed temple will be established in Navakkuli under the
guidance of the Nagavihara Temple Authority, he said.
Around 135 Sinhala families live in Navakkuli. They live with many
difficulties and lack facilities. They need support to rebuild their
lives, he said.
Jaffna Naga Viharadhikari Meegahajandure Siriwimala Thera and Jaffna
Tamil Buddhist Association President A Ravi Kumara is working round the
clock in this regard. Sinhala Ravaya and Hela Urumaya too are supporting
this endevour, Jaffna

Ravi Kumar has proposed to Organization's President Malkaanthi
Wickramasinghe to establish a Dhamma School for Tamil and Sinhala
students in Navakkkuli.
Through this Dhamma School they plan to teach Tamil language for
Sinhala pupils and Sinhala language to Tamil pupils, he said. |
