Shanuka Dulaj Vithanawasam is a fine allround cricketer produced from
Prince of Wales College in recent times. He commenced his cricket career
at the age of nine years and his first coach is Sumith Fernando.
He played for the school under 13 team and in the under 15, under 17
and currently in the first eleven team. While playing for under 15 he
led the Cambrians for a few matches. In 2011, playing for Colombo South
and in the finals against Colombo North he was adjudged as the Best
Batsman and the Man of the Match. Then he went on to represent the under
17 team and he was selected for the Indian cricket tour with the Sri
Lanka Schools under 17 cricket team.
Presently he is playing for the first eleven cricket team and a third
year coloursman.
He bats right hand and bowls left arm leg spin. In the 2011/2012
season he scored 975 runs and claimed 75 wickets and at the Big match he
was the Best Batsman. Last year his highest score was 117 runs against
Mahanama College, Colombo and the best bowling figures was 11 for 126
against Mahinda College. In this season he scored 886 runs and took 38
wickets and in this year's Big Match he was awarded the Man of the Match
award and Man of the Match for the One Dayer.
Further more he is in the Sri Lanka under 19 cricket pool for the
forthcoming tour of Bangladesh.
During this season he notched a century and it was against Trinity
College and had six fifties. His present coach is Suranga Wijenayake who
too is a former Cambrian captain.
