Kusal steers Cambrians

The newly appointed under 19 Sri Lanka schools cricket captain for the Bangladesh tour Kusal Mendis proved his appointment as captain for the forthcoming tour has been amply worth by scoring scintillating chanceless unbeaten 79 runs which included twelve fours and one six against formidable Thurstan College, Colombo in their inter-school under 19 limited over tournament cricket match worked off at Moratuwa. He will no doubt prove his mettle in the series and bring glory to Sri Lanka.

Thurstanites batted first and were all out for 136 runs in 48.3 overs with K Kulasekera making a solid 54 runs. All-rounder Shanuka Dulaj and Satchith Pushpakumara claimed 3 for 9 and 2 for 25 respectively.

In reply Cambrians notched up the required score with ease in 25.3 overs with Shanuka Dulaj too contributing 26 runs.

Thurstan – 136 in 48.3 overs (K Kulasekera 54, Satchith Pushpakumara 2/25, Shanuka Dulaj 2/9, Thilan Nimesh 1/10).

Prince of Wales – 137/3 in 25.3 overs (Kusal Mendis 79 n.o, Shanuka Dulaj 26, Raveen Lokuge 1/19).
