The cancer control programme of the
Health Ministry published a book on early detection of
breast cancer to be distributed among women free of charge.
The first copy of the handbook was presented to Health
Minister Maithripala Sirisena by programme director Dr
Neelamani Paranagama at a ceremony to mark International
Women’s Day at Medirigriya National School recently. Here,
Minister Sirisena in turn handing over the book to
Polonnaruwa Regional Health Services Director Dr Noel
Udugama.

Edinburgh International Youth Medals Programme for the Asia
Pacific Region Sue Walker who is on a five day official
visit to Sri Lanka, inaugurated an outdoor leadership
programme for a batch of 30 students of Devi Balika
Vidyalaya, Colombo 8 yesterday. Here the Devi Balika

The 156th commemorative anniversary
of the founder of the Scout Movement Lord Beden Powel was
organised by the Akkaraipattu – Kalmunai Scout Association
at the Kalmunai Zahira College Auditorium recently. This
ceremony was presided by Kalmunai Zonal Director of
Education and Akkaraipattu - Kalmunai Scout Association
president U L M Hashim. Eastern Province Provincial
Education Director M T A Nizam was the Chief Guest.
Education Deputy Director A L M Mukthar, Scout District
Commissioners I M Musthafa, I L A Majeed, S Thasthakeer and
