State Children’s Art Festival 2013 :
Drawings now being received

Drawings for the preliminary round of the State Children’s Art
Festival are being received now. The Festival is organized by the
Cultural Affairs Department and the Panel of Art and Sculpture of the
Sri Lanka Arts Council, on the direction of the Culture and the Arts
Affairs Ministry, a Cultural Department Spokesperson said.
The competition is conducted under the age categories of Primary (5-
6 years), Post Primary (7-9 years), Junior (10-12 years), Senior
(13-15years) and Senior Secondary (16-18 years), he said.
Each participant is entitled to send only one drawing, dimension
18x14 inches, on any topic using any medium.
The drawings should be sent or handed over to the Secretary, State
Panel of Art and Sculpture, National Art Gallery, Colombo 7, before
March 30 mentioning the name in Sinhala /Tamil or English, date of
birth, age as at 01.01.2013, category, private address, telephone
number, district of the permanent residence on the back of the drawing.
The drawings should be certified by the participants as their own, he
said.
Out of the drawings received, 150 winners from each district will be
selected in the first round under the five age categories and they will
be brought for the second round.
Workshops will be held in each district for the competitors in the
second round.
The winners will be selected from the drawings finally produced by
them. The drawings of the winners will be presented to State Children’s
Art Festival 2013, he said.
Arrangements are in place to present certificates and medals for 1st,
2nd and 3rd places and 10 award certificates and 30 merit awards for
selected winners from each age category. All winners in the first round
will be awarded certificates too. |
