‘Development spreads to hinterland’

A massive development programme is underway in every nook and corner of the country on the direction of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Sumedha G Jayasena.

The minister made these sentiments at the Ambalanda community hall after commissioning two electricity projects under Uva Udanaya in Ambalanda and Liyangolla, Tibirigaspitiya in the Siyabalanduwa Divisional Secretariat area on Tuesday.

Minister Jayasena said President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s image lingers in the hearts of the people as he showed the path to defeat terrorism. He stood firmly against international pressure, he said.

Siyabalanduwa was considered as the poorest area in the country. It is being developed as the government launched projects to enhance the livelihoods of the people. Provision of electricity, water and other infrastructure is the main concern of the government, the minister said.

Coconut Development and Janatha Estate Development Minister Jagath Pushpakumara said the massive development drive pricks the eyes of the power hungry elements of the country.
