Ratnayake wins chess tourney

The vision impaired persons all island chess tournament 2012
organised by the Council for the Blind Sri Lanka was held recently at
the councils' head quarters, Union Place Colombo 2.
The winners of the tourney (centre) champion corporal H.R.

Corporal A.L.U. Indrajith. The champion and the 2nd
runner-up were war Heroes who had sacrificed their eyes for

Representing almost all provinces 55 sportsmen and sportswomen
participated at the tourney.
The champion in 2011 was war hero corporal H.R. Ratnayake who
clinched the championship this year also.
The first runner up was student of Blind School Ratmalana Nuwantha
Sudesh.
The 2nd runner-up was avas also "war hero who had lost his eye sight
at the terrorist war in the North lance corporal A.L.U. Indrajith.
The winners of the tourney were awarded and reworded with cash prizes
at the 27th anniversary ceremony recently held at the YWCA Refunda
Gardens Colombo by the chief guest of the ceremony Young Parliamentarian
Namal Rajapaksa. |
