Time deprives Kandy CC of certain victory

Time denied Kandy Cricket Club of a certain outright win over Petersons Cricket Club, Colombo in their Sri Lanka Cricket's Division two cricket tournament match played at Sri Rahula College grounds Katugastota over the Weekend.

Kandy Cricket Club who gained a first innings lead of 37 had their opponent tottering at 80 for 9 in 38 overs when stump were drawn. It was their late order batsman Mahes Godapitya who batted for over 12 overs who stalled the Kandy team with his unbeaten 12.

Petersons SC 220 all out in 61 overs (Madhushan Lakshan 65, Denuk Nandasiri 49, M.K. Godapitiya 26, H. Perera 24 not out, N. Dulanjan 18 D.S. Peiris 14, S.K. Kumara 12, Ishantha Sapumal 4 for 39, Renuka Galahiyawa 2 for 57). And 80 for 9 in 38 over S. Samaraweera 27, Mahes Godapitiya 12 not out, Chamila Gunasekera 2 for 9, Renuka Galahitiyawa 2 for 2).

Kandy Cricket Club 257 all out in 73.2 over Lochana Wijesiri 39, Umair Khan 40, Rehan Dilshan 88, Ahamed Muaaz 18 Chamila Gunasekera 10, Mohamed Afthal 15, Sapumal Bandara 18, Mahes Godapitiya 5 for 72, Randika Alwis 5 for 79).
