Fine knock of 88 by Duleeka

D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo were comfortably placed at the end
of the first day’s play in their Hashan Tillakaratne Trophy cricket
match against Kingswood College which began at Police grounds, Kandy
yesterday. The match will be continued today at 10 a.m.
The Kingswoodians winning the toss and put the visitors to bat only
to find them amassing 279 for 9 declared in only 67 overs.
D.S. Senanayake College batted positively with Duleeka Brahmanage
leading the on slaught with a bright knock of 88 which included 7 sixes
and 5 fours, facing only 56 balls.
Supun Madushan thumped a quick 54 not out with 3 sixes and 3 fours
off 52 balls.
Akeel Inam held the other end up to score a solid 53 with 4 fours
facing 114 balls.
The best partnership of the innings was between Duleeka Brahmanage
and Akeel Inam when they put on 81 for the third wicket.
At close Kingswoodian recovered to score 72 for 3 off 21 overs. They
were 31 for 3 and a good partnership of 40 for the fourth wicket between
Shaluka Walisundera 40 not out (9 fours, 64 balls) and Supun Bandara 23
not out (3 fours, 32 balls) saw them to the end of the day without
further loss.
Medium pacer Binura Fernando has so far taken 2 for 13 to bring his
tally for the season to 79 wickets.
