UNP eroding under Ranil - Gunasekara

Whatever guerrilla outfits are formed in the UNP, its leader Ranil
Wickremesinghe cannot prevent further erosion of the party and more
members leaving its ranks in the future, said Plantation Industries
Deputy Minister Earl Gunasekara. He said in another four years the UNP
parliamentary group will be reduced to a twosome with only Ranil and
Tissa remaining in it.
Gunasekara said there was no one who could beat Ranil Wickremesinghe
in guerrilla tactics. Ranil was so adept in guerrilla tactics that he
had already declared Sirikotha as a no go zone for 28 party activists.
Gunasekara who said another group of UNPers were waiting on the wings
to cross over to the government during a future election, said guerrilla
forces or any other tactics would never succeed in presenting the
erosion and dissipation of the UNP. He said opposition within the UNP
towards Ranil Wickremesinghe’s leadership could never be overcome or
controlled by using catchwords such as ‘radical’ or ‘guerrilla’. |
