Unidentified group storm monastery

A group of people who forcibly entered the Budumaga Senasuna Buddhist Monastery at Moragahakanda Watta, Kalutara North on Sunday night, assaulted novice monks and threatened them, eye witnesses said.

The group numbering around six entered the monastery around 3.30 am and placed a pistol on a novice monk's head and inquired about the monastery's Chief Incumbent Ven Puliyadde Suddhamma Thera.

Ven Suddhamma Thera said the gang had assaulted the novice monks and threatened them. A novice monk had run to the nearest house while the gang had followed him and continued to assault him, Ven Suddhamma Thera said. The gang had later fled.

Investigations are continuing.
