Kegalle Marians post eighth outright win

St Mary's College, Kegalle registered their eighth outright win for
the season when they beat St Xaviers College, Marawila by 106 runs in
their schools, under 19 cricket tournament match played at the Public
grounds, Kegalle on Sunday.
Match winners for the Kegalle Marians was their left arm spinner
Chamika Karunaratne who took 4 for 49 and 7 for 64 to return a match bag
of 11 for 113. He has now captured 85 wickets for the season.
The other left arm spinner Danushka Sandaruwan supported him with a
match haul of 8 for 118 to rent the Xavierites. Danushka Sandaruwan has
now captured 98 wickets for the season and looks set to become the first
schoolboy bowler to capture 100 wickets for the season. Marians have 3
more matches to play.
Also shining in Marians side was skipper Iraj Jayamanne who score
twin fifties in the match. His 69 in the first innings had 11 fours and
2 sixes and his second innings knock of 63 had 8 fours and 2 sixes.
St Mary's College 229 all out in 52.3 overs (Nuraj Ratnayake 46,
Banuka Praboth 18, Iraj Jayamanne 69, Chamika Karunaratne 31, Sanjeewa
Jayamal 37, T L Dilshan 3 for 38, D Fernando 3 for 31, D S Soza 2 for
38) and 154 for 5 decl. In 36 overs (Iraj Jayamanne 63, Danushka
Sandaruwan 21 not out, T L Dilshan 3 for 33, D R Fernandez 2 for 42).
St Xaviers College 156 all out in 40.4 overs (S Soza 31, T L Dilshan
42, Chamika Karunaratne 4 for 44, Danushka Sandaruwan 5 for 65) and 121
all out in 35 overs (A B Kanishka 52, Chamika Karunaratne 7 for 64,
Danushka Sandaruwan 3 for 53).
