The official Website of the Mass Media and Information Ministry hacked two days ago by an organized anti Sri Lankan global movement has been fully restored and will function again with a high security system to prevent any future cyber attacks, Media and Information Ministry Secretary Dr. Charitha Herath said.

He said with the United Nations Human Rights Council sessions at hand, these types of acts of sabotage are carried out by pro - LTTE elements who aim to tarnish the good image of the motherland.

“There were earlier instances by these globally active elements to hack a couple of key government websites . They carry out these types of things to draw the attention of the international community.” These attackers are suspected to be operating from overseas and not within Sri Lankan ,” he said.

“We have made a complaint to the CID regarding the incident and the Media Ministry website will be updated with latest high security system tonight so that no cyber attacks would be possible by any outsiders at any cost”, he added.
