Residents within the city limits, leading hotels and guest houses are
preparing their flower gardens for the forthcoming April festivities.
The popular Victoria Park is being spruced by the Municipal Council
and the annual prize winning flower gardens of the Colonial Hotel, the
British Club, the Grand Hotel and Hill Club are being planted with
exotic varieties of expressive flower plants in order to compete in the
forthcoming April annual flower competitions.
The Mayor of Nuwara Eliya Mahinda Kumara Dodambage and the festivity
committee members have requested residents and the business community to
get ready for the forthcoming Nuwara Eliya festive seasonal programmes.
A conference was held at the Municipal Council with Minister Navin
Dissanayake, to draw-up the April seasonal activities. The conference
centered around the proposed setting up of a Cable Car from the Nuwara
Eliya city to the Single Tree with American Agency assistance. It was
decided that a committee be set up, at the request of Minister Navin
Dissanayake, in order to finalize the proposal. |
