Anandians become Champs of 'The Debater'

The Debater, an all-island Inter-school Debate Championship organized by the MTV Sports Channel introduced a brand new style of Professional High-school English Debating.

MTV Sports Channel which celebrated its very first Anniversary on January 26, launched the very first season of The Debater in April last year. After four exciting rounds of heated debates with great argumentation and sportsmanship, Ananda College, Colombo and Lyceum International School,Nugegoda qualified for the Grand Finals of the tournament as unbeaten strong teams!

The Grand Finals of The Debater was held on a grand scale at Stein Studios,Ratmalana, last month with the participation of distinguished Guests, Principals of the two Finalist Schools, teachers, parents and over a 1000 students.

After a very heated live debate on the motion "Whether or not a new global body should take over Internet Governance", Ananda College, Colombo emerged victorious, having Lyceum International School, Nugegoda to walk away with the Best Speaker Award.

Both the teams, with the guidance of their dedicated coaches, had worked so hard over a period of more than one month to put up a great show on that prestigious night and bring glory to their schools!
