Rain, a spoiler

Only 105 minutes of play was possible on the first day of the schools under 19 cricket tournament match between Trinity College and Zahira College, Colombo which began at the Asgiriya Stadium, Kandy yesterday. The match will be continued at 9.45 a.m. today.

The match began only at 10.30 a.m. following wet ground conditions due to overnight rain. But by 12.15 p.m. rains came down in torrents making it not possible to resume play. The two umpires made several inspections and decided to call off play for the day by 4.30 p.m.

Trinity College - 84 for 4 in 25 overs (Bhaghya Pallihawadana 23, Lakshitha Dassanayake 19, Rajitha Jayatunga 25 not out, Waseem Sinnen 2 for 16).
