Poorna hits half ton

A fine half century by Poorna Aluthge (50) powered Royal College
Colombo to score 171 and in reply, St. Joseph's were 142 for 6 at the
end of first day's play of their under 19 division one match which began
at Darley Road yesterday.
Taking the first lease of the wicket, Royal were all out for 171 in
55.2 overs. Aluthge's sparkling half century included nine boundaries.
Moditha Weerasinghe was the pick of the bowlers for Joes with 3 for 52.
In reply, the Josephians were 142 for 6 in 34 overs at Close. Pathum
Madusanka (39 not out) and Sachin Hewawasam (23) were the main
contributors for Josephians. Harith Samarasinghe was the most impressive
among the bowlers with 3 for 50.
