Right arm off spinner Chamara Attapattu performed the hat-trick for
Sri Sumangala College, Kandy in their inter-school cricket match against
Hindu College, Matale which ended in a draw at Matale yesterday. Heavy
rain which fell around 1.30 pm on the second day washed off play.
Off spinner Chamara Attapattu who took 4 for 32 performed the
hat-trick in the last three balls of the 67th over of Hindu College
innings when the score stumped 211 for 6 for 211 for 9 before they were
all out for 212.
What is most remarkable about Chamara Attapattu’s feat was that he
lost his father seven days ago under tragic circumstances. He played in
this match after attending the seventh day alms-giving of his father.
This may be a very rare case in the history of cricket.
When others would have kept away from sports, Chamara Attapattu
decided to play and he performed his best which could have been the best
bouquet he could have offered his late father.
Run getting prodigy Ahamed Muaaz was once again in the run slamming a
quick fire 76 with 7 sixes and 5 fours which meant 62 of his runs coming
in boundaries. This follows his century in both innings in their last
match – 120 and 107 which gave him a Bradmansque average of 101.0
totally 303 runs in 3 innings for Hindu college by Rathushan 56 not out
(7 fours) and K Sanjeewan 58 (5 fours, 2 sixes) excelled with the bat.
Hindu College: 212 all out in 69.2 overs (S Dharshan 12, U
Dharshan 18, G Rathusan 56 not out, K Sanjeewan 58, K R Kanth 27,
