Soldier dies in jeep mishap

A soldier died when an Army jeep taking a group of soldiers attached to the Nikawewa Guerilla Warfare Training Camp to Periyamadu ran off the Kebethigollewa - Talgaswewa road and toppled at Halmillawetiya.

The soldier who got thrown off the back of the vehicle and hit his head on the road, was admitted to the Anuradhapura Hospital and later succumbed to the injuries on Sunday. He was identified as K G B M Gunaratane of Talatuoya.

The jeep driver produced before the Kebethigollewa magistrate was remanded.
