Former manager held for accessing company data base

A former manager attached to a private sector tour operator was arrested on suspicion on February 7 for allegedly obtaining unauthorised access to the company’s electronic data base and using certain e-mail tour orders gained by the company to organise outside tours to deprive the company of its anticipated income.

The suspect, a resident of Pannipitiya had been attached to the company as a manager from 1992 to 2007.

The arrest was made following a complaint to the CID on October 26,2012. The suspect was produced before the Colombo chief magistrate and released on Rs 15,000 cash and Rs 1 million surety bail with tow sureties, the Police Headquarters said in a release yesterday.
