Welfare association for ayurvedic physicians
A welfare association for ayurvedic physicians in the Anuradhapura
district is to be set up shortly.
North Central Province Chief Minister S M Ranjith Samarakoon who
mooted this idea when he attended a felicitation ceremony for Ayurveda
Physicians at the Anuradhapura Swarnasheeli Balika Vidyalaya hall, also
promised to donate Rs 200,000 from the Chief Minister’s fund as a
nucleus for a welfare fund for physicians to be handled by the
association.
The chief minister said the late Prime Minister S W R D Bandaranayake
gave special recognition to the ayurveda physicians by rallying them to
the fivefold forces which ensured the 1956 people’s victory.
Thereafter, President Mahinda Rajapaksa implemented several
programmes to uplift ayurveda physicians after he assumed power in 2005.
Provincial Health Minister S B Semasinghe is ably shouldering the
responsibility of implementing these programmes in the NCP in his
capacity as the Provincial Health Minister. Provincial Health Minister
Semasinghe said he has taken steps to ensure a qualitative development
of all ayurveda hospitals and dispensaries in the Province. |
