Cabinet Decisions
Land allocation to Bibile Pradheshiya Sabha
The Cabinet decided to allocate a block of land at Bibile town
belonging to the Urban Development Authority to Bibile Pradeshiya Sabha
for development of the said land in keeping with the Bibile Town
Development Plan.
The proposal was submitted by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his
capacity as the Defence and Urban Development Minister.
Sri Lanka's participation World Expo 2015, Milan, Italy.
The next World Expo Exposition will be held in Milan, Italy from May
1 to October 31, 2015. The objective of this exposition is to highlight
the economic, cultural and scientific achievements of a country and to
share the knowledge and technology with the world.
The proposal made by Industry and Commerce Minister Rishard
Bathiudeen to proceed with the preliminary work relating to Sri Lanka's
participation at this Exposition was approved by the Cabinet.
Proposed agreement between EC and Sri Lanka on air services
Cabinet having observed that the European Union has informed that
they have obtained the approval of their relevant authorities to ratify
the above agreement and for the entry into force of the provisions of
the Agreement, decided to grant approval to ratify the said Agreement.
Preparation of Legislation to Amend the Resettlement Authority Act
The proposal made by Resettlement Minister Gunaratne Weerakoon to
submit the draft Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman to extend the
validity period of the Resettlement Authority Act, No. 09 of 2007 for a
further period of three years beyond April 10, 2013 to Parliament was
approved by the Cabinet.
Presentation of Regulation by Sports Minister under Section 41 of
the Sports Law
The proposal made by Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage to
submit the Gazette Extraordinary No. 1793/3 dated 2013-01-15 containing
regulations made by him under the Sports Law, No. 25 of 1973, to
Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
Tender for supply of 44.5 million locally manufactured gloves
The proposal made by Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena to award
the above tender to the only responsive domestic bidder for a cost of Rs.
199,293,873.00 as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed
Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
Construction of Buildings for University of Ruhuna
The proposal made by Higher Education Minister S. B. Dissanayake to
award the above contract to the lowest evaluated bidder for a cost of Rs.
231,706,515.46 as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed
Procurement Committee (SCAPC) was approved by the Cabinet.
Construction building for MERC
The proposal made by Higher Education Minister S. B. Dissanayake for
the construction of the above building to provide more accommodation, so
as to increase the student intake by 30 per cent for the Postgraduate
Academic Programmes, to overcome the shortage of specialists in various
subject areas such as Microbiology, Pathology, Radiology and Psychiatry
etc., and to commence the construction work in 2013 and complete the
project within 2 years at a cost of Rs. 169 million, was approved by the
Cabinet.
Construction of building Complex for University of Kelaniya
Stage I of the above project has been completed at a cost of Rs. 40
million. The proposal made by Higher Education Minister S. B.
Dissanayake to award the construction work of Stage II of the project to
the lowest evaluated bidder recommended by the Standing Cabinet
Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC) was approved by the Cabinet.
Construction of buildin complex for University of Ruhuna.
Stage I of the above project has already been completed at a cost of
Rs. 63 million. The proposal made by Higher Education Minister S. B.
Dissanayake to award the construction work of Stage II of the project to
the lowest evaluated bidder for a sum of Rs. 179, 463,752.94 as
recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC)
was approved by the Cabinet
USD 200 million credit from IDA of World Bank for health sector
development
The Health Ministry in consultation with the Provincial Health
Authorities and other stakeholders, has formulated a National Health
Development Plan for 2013 to 2017 in line with the development policy
framework of the government and the health sector master plan. The
International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank has agreed
to provide financial assistance of US$ 200 million equivalent of Special
Drawing Rights (SDR) for this programme which covers the following:
malnutrition prevention and control of non-communicable diseases,
maternal and child health and prevention and control of communicable
diseases, health system improvement. The proposal made by President
Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Finance and Planning Minister
to proceed with the loan arrangement was approved by the Cabinet.
Reinforcement of the planning and operational sectors
The proposal made by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as
the Finance and Planning Minister to reinforce the existing
organizational structure and human resources to plan and direct the
proposed National, District, Divisional and Rural Development Programmes,
to complete same within the estimated costs and scheduled time frames;
and to reinforce the planning and operational sector of ministries and
district secretaries for effective and efficient planning, operation and
monitoring of development activities, was approved by the Cabinet.
Project to construct and Rehabilitate 25 bridges
The Kuwait Fund for Arabic Economic Development has agreed to provide
loan assistance in Kuwait Dinar 10 million (approximately US$ 36
million) for implementation of the construction and rehabilitation of 25
bridges on the National Road Network. This includes, nine bridges in the
Western Province, three bridges in the Southern, five bridges in the
North Western Province, four bridges in the Sabaragamuwa Province, three
bridges in the Northern Province, and one bridge in the Eastern
Province. The proposal made by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his
capacity as the Finance and Planning Minister to proceed with the loan
arrangement was approved by the Cabinet.
Purchase of building fo Sri Lanka Embassy in Oman
The proposal made by the Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare
Minister to purchase the building occupied by the Sri Lanka Embassy in
Oman, was approved by the Cabinet. |
