Dehiowita PS Chairman praised by Opposition

Speaking at the Dehiowita Pradeshiya Sabha meeting UNP member Victor Bandara said that the steps taken by the Chairman to develop the town should be appreciated. This is something his predecessors failed to do. The chairman established the new market complex. He also established a crematorium. Due to the demolishing of the buildings there are poor families immensely affected. Their problems should be addressed on a humanitarian basis. Chairman Amila Ruwan Kandearachchi said he would take action to get a plot of land from a nearby estate to settle such families.

Thalduwe Pangnawansa Thera (UPFA) thanked the chairman for his effort to develop Thalduwa and Dehowita towns by getting 60 M rupees. The town development was a long felt need of the people.

Opposition leader Sextus Arseculeratne said that the Opposition will always support any action taken by any party for the benefit of the people. The development of Dehiowita town is commendable.

What we ask is to consider paying a reasonable compensation to the affected traders and families, he said. Chairman Amila Ruwan Kandearatchcui said that he held several discussions with the Traders Assocation.

The request of the traders to allow 25 feet was accepted by the UDA.
