Addressing the inauguration of the second workshop under the 'Public
Sector Linkages Programme' conducted by the Sri Lanka Institute of
Development Administration (SLIDA) at the SLIDA premises on Tuesday, the
minister said there should be better coordination among public
institutions to provide their much needed contribution for the
accelerated development drive of the country after the end of war.
He said officials should not be afraid to exceed their traditional
boundaries when necessary to provide a fruitful service to the public
and to take effective action during a problem.
The minister said public institutions should also build a good
coordination with the political leadership.
The SLIDA programme aims to improve horizontal coordination in
divisional level institutions and leadership development.
It organised a series of residential training workshops for this
purpose.
The first workshop was organised for public sector employees in
Biyagama Divisional Secretariat, while the second workshop was organised
for public sector employees in the Kundasale Divisional Secretariat
Division.
The SLIDA conducts this programme in collaboration with the Monash
University in Australia with the funding of the AusAID. SLIDA Director
Keerthi Wijeyaratne also spoke. |
