Flood threat in Ampara

Several areas of the Ampara district have gone under water following the heavy rains experienced throughout the the Eastern Province past few days. Many people have been effected by rains accompanied by strong winds.

Thousands of acres of paddy have been inundated. Fishermen have not gone to the sea due to adverse whether. The water levels of the tanks in the province have increased.

Several large, medium and small scale tanks in the province have reached the spill level.
