Permanent appointment letters posted to graduates

The Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry has posted
permanent appointment letters to graduates who received state sector
appointments last year, Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister
W D J Seneviratne said.
The minister said the government recruited 50,000 graduates to the
public sector last year and the government promised to make them
permanent after a one year training period.
"As we promised, we have sent permanent appointment letters to
graduates who have been recruited to the state sector in the middle of
last February. We have posted 298 letters via registered post, " the
minister said.
Several parties cast remarks about these appointment when the
government decided to recruit such a huge number of graduates to the
state sector. They said these appointments will not be permanent.
The ministry has taken measures to send permanent appointment letters
to the newly recruited graduates and they will be made permanent in
stages, Minister Seneviratne said.
He said all graduates recruited to the state service will be absorbed
to the Development Officers' service constitution and will be entered to
the combined service of the state service as well. Their monthly salary
will be around Rs 23,000, the minister said.
