Coastguard rescues three youths

The Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) lifesaving unit saved three youths from drowning in the Mount Lavinia sea.

SLCG sources said S S Jeyundeen, M Afraja and M F M Mafash, all residents in Colombo, had been bathing in the Mount Lavinia sea on Sunday.

Lifeguards attached to the Mount Lavinia Life Saving Unit on duty observed the three youths drifting away from the shores caught in the strong currents.

Leading Seamen S A A R Suraweera and Able Seamen K D G C P K Wijewickrama reacted swiftly and rescued the youths from drowning.
