Centurion Duleeka helps DSS

A steady partnership of 111 runs for the second wicket between centurion Duleeka Brahmanage (116) and Kanishka Prasan (25) helped D.S.Senanayake College, Colombo to pile up 285 runs for 9 on the first day in their inter-schools under-19 match against Nalanda College which began at Campbell Place yesterday. Duleeka Brahmanage's century was studded with 10 hits to the ropes and five over it and came in 107 deliveries.

Supun Madushan (40) and Thimila Vidyasekara (42 not out) were the others who contributed for DSS. Pramud Hettiwatte was the most impressive among the bowlers with 4 for 77 for Nalanda. Kusal Dias bagged 2 for 41 while Avishka de Silva captured 2 for 13.

DSS: 285 for 9 in 71 overs (Kanishka Prasan 25, Duleeka Brahmanage 116, Supun Madushan 40, Thimila Vidyasekara 42 n.o., Kusal Dias 2/41, Pramud Hettiwatte 4/77, Avishka de Silva 2/13)

Ruwin bags 6 for 38

Ruwin Sinnaiah bagged six wickets (6 /38) for Maris Stella College Negombo on the first day of their inter-school under-19 match against Mahanama at Kadirana yesterday.

Sent into bat first, Mahanama were all out for 167 in 51.1 overs. Subuddhi Kaushalya was the main contributor for Mahanama with a half century inclusive of 10 boundaries. Ruwin Sinnaih did the damage with 6 for 38 while Nalaka Silva took 2 for 24. In reply, Maris Stella were 90 for 4 in 19 overs at close with Shehan Chathuranga (35) and Chathuranga Rajapaksa (21 n.o.). Chamara Silva captured 2 for 30.

Mahanama: 167 in 51.1 overs (Pawan Devinda 39, Subuddhi Kaushalya 62, Kavindu Lakshan 25, Ruwin Sinnaiah 6/38, Nalaka Silva 2/24)

Maris Stella: 90 for 4 in 19 overs (Shehan Chathuranga 35, Chathuranga Rajapaksa 21 n.o, Chamara Silva 2/30)

A fine half century by Thanura Sandamal (52) helped St.Benedict’s College to take the upper hand over the formidable St.Peter’s College on the first day of their inter-schools under-19 match commenced at Kotahena yesterday. St.Peter’s won the toss and chose to field. The Benedictines were all out for 154 in 55.3 overs.

Chemile Obeyesekere was the pick of the bowlers for Peterites with 3 for 43.

They were 11 for 2 at close.
