Farmer electrocuted

A man died of electrocution while another was hospitalized after touching an electrically charged fence bordering a paddy field in Paradalgama, Hambegamuwa on Sunday. It was revealed that electricity had leaked into the fence from an illegal electricity installation.

K A Pushpakumara (39) of Mailawela died in the incident.

Investigations carried out by the Hambegamuwa Police revealed that the deceased, the hospitalized man and several other farmers had installed electricity around paddy fields to protect their crops from elephants.
