Water and sanitation for Nuwara Eliya people
Australia and World Vision are partnering in an AUD 3.8 million water
and sanitation programme for the people in the Nuwara Eliya
district. The partnership is in collaboration with the Central and
Local governments, Plantation management and community based
organizations.
A water and sanitation project was launched in Elgin Estate recently.
Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Robyn Mudie, National
Director of World Vision Lanka Suresh Bartlett and CEO of Watawala
Plantations Dan Seevaratnam participated in the launching ceremony.
The project cost Rs 20 million and will provide safe drinking water
and improved sanitation for 800 people, including nearly 400 women and
300 children. |
