Vocational Training in Mullaitivu Schools

Two Vocational Centres housed in schools in the Mullaitivu District were opened last month, in accordance with the new initiative of the Education Ministry to set up vocational training within schools.

Courses include motor mechanics, computer training and beauty culture while English and Sinhala are taught to all students to enhance job opportunities nationally and internationally.

The schools managed by Aide et Action organization, were started with support from the decentralized budget of Parliamentarian Prof Rajiva Wijesinha.

The training model includes soft skills and personality development. Students are nurtured through work attachments, and encouraged to develop social service projects on their own, in addition to learning and engaging together in cultural activities.
