| The inmates of Welikada Prison
yesterday skipped their lunch and dinner to contribute to a
fund dedicated to law student Achala Priyadharshani whose
hand was amputated due to alleged medical negligence on the
part of the medical officers of the Matara General hospital.

| Custom officers attached to the
Bandaranaike International Airport arrested an Indian
national, 51, while attempting to smuggle out foreign
currency worth Rs. 3.4 million on Sunday night. The currency
included American Dollars 25,750 and Singapore Dollars
