Anushka’s 6/21 steers Sebs

St. Sebastians College, Moratuwa have already gained a first innings win over St. Anne’s College, Kurunegala in their inter-school under 19 cricket match played at Moratuwa.

Batting first Anities were all out for 125 with an excellent bowling spell by Anushka Perera who claimed 6 for 21 while. Vishal Senanayake captured 3 for 20 and in reply at the end of day one Sebs were 137 for 7 with Gayan Silva 44 runs and Gayas Kumarasinghe bagging 4 for 34.

St. Anne’s : 125 - Chaturanga Perera 20, Lakshan Jayarathne 24, Malshan Perera 23, Anushka Perera 6/21, Vishal Senanayake 3/20.

Sebs: 137/7 - Gayan Silva 44, Kusal Lakthilina 20 N/o, Vishal Senanayake 20 N/o, Gayas Kumarasinghe 4/34.


Yomesh and Ransi stun batsmen

Yomesh Ranasinghe with a good bowling spell of 5 for 23 enabled Issipathana Vidyalaya, Colombo to bowled out Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa for a paltry 95 runs in their inter-school under 19 cricket match worked off at B. R. C. grounds, Colombo.

Taking the strike first, Vazians put up a poor show with Sevwinda Silva making the top score of 34 runs and Kaminda Perera claimed 3 for 9.

In reply, at the end of day, Pathanians were 158 runs with Malin Dias 35 and Ransi Peiris claiming 6 for 36 for the visitors.

Joseph Vaz: 95 – Sevwinda Silva 34, Sandaru Ranasinghe 28, Rukshan Fernando 23, Yomesh Ranasinghe 5/23, Kaminda Perera 3/9.

Nalanda performs well over Rajans

Nalanda College, Colombo performed well against Dharmaraja College, Kandy on the first day of the Bandula Warnapura Trophy cricket match commenced at Lake View grounds, Kandy yesterday.

Dharmaraja got Nalanda out for 190 but could not capitalize the situation as they were seven wickets down for only 62 runs.

In the Nalanda Innings, Avishka Silva and Dilan Samaraweera were associated in a partnership of 74 runs for the 7th wicket. Nalanda off spinner, Malinga Silva bagged 5 for 19.

Nalanda 1st innings: 190 all out in 63.01 overs. Washantha Silva 38, Dilan Samaraweera 53, Nuwan Karunaratne 2 for 16, Chandimal Silva 2 for 31 Lakshan Silva 2 for 48, Aravinda Vithanachchi 1 for 46.

Dharmaraja 1st innings: 62 for 7 wickets in 28 overs. Ramesh Ranasinghe 22, Nuwan Karunaratne n.o. 19, Malinga Silva 5 for 19, Kusal Diaz 2 for 5.
