Inter-Club Premier League Tournament:

Akila (4/44) bowls Colts to victory

Sri Lanka One Day International player, Akila Dhananjaya bowled Colts to victory against Ragama Cricket Club who were the limited over champions, by 130 runs in their three-day match concluded at Colts grounds yesterday. The teenage spinner, making his debut in First Class cricket, domilished the strong Ragama batting order when they were chasing 261 target.

Tamil Union beat Ports Authority by eight wickets

Tamil Union beat Sri Lanka Ports Authority by eight wickets in their Premier League match which concluded yeterday at the P Sara Oval yesterday.

Ports Authority, resumed from their overnight score of 133/1, looking forward to save the match against the formidable bowling attack of the home team, scored 306, showing some resistance than in the first innings.

Tamil Union, were set a 90-run target in the last session of the match and they reached the target in 17 overs with opener Ashen Silva’s unbeaten 48 and first innings century maker Kithruwan Vithanage, who was 18 not out.

Kithruwan Vithanage (122 and 18 not out) and Shaminda Eranga’s career best first class figures (6/21) were the highlights of the victorious Tamil Union team.

Randiv and Pradeep bowl Bloomfield to victory

Two fine bowling performance by Sri Lanka Test players Nuwan Pradeep and Suraj Randiv helped Bloomfield to post a convincing 171-run win over BRC in their match concluded at Boomfield grounds yesterday.

Boomfield, who have got a fine bowling unit comprising limited over tournament leading wicket taker Nuwan Pradeep along with Chathura Randunu and Suraj Randiv bowled out BRC for 182 runs when they were chasing 354 target. Pradeep had a match bag of seven wickets while Randiv and Randunu took five and four wickets respectively.

SSS win by 10 wickets

Sinhalese Sports Club defeated Chilaw Marians by 10 wickets at SSC grounds yesterday. Marians responded with a good second innings total, resuming from their overnight score of 216/3 and they scored 377 runs setting up 71-run target for SSC.

SSC openers Tharanga Paranavithana and Dimuth Karunaratne reached the target in 12 overs. Paranavithana, who scored 49 in the first innings hit 41-ball 44 runs and Karunaratne smashed 27.

Chilaw Marians: 142 in 32.5 overs (AS Jayasinghe 67, Kasun Madhusanka 3/33, Sachithra Senanayake 3/35, Amil Prasad 2/44) and 377 in 94.2 overs (Nuwan Kavinda 109, AS Jayasinghe 68, LS Fernando 46, Umesh Karunaratne 37, D Priyadarshana 36, Sachithra Senanayake 6/127).

Moors humble Saracens

Moors Cricket Club, who scored a massive 547 runs in the first innings, bowled out Saracens Sports Club twice to win their premier league match by innings and 77 runs concluded at Moors grounds yesterday.

Resuming at their overnight score of 34 for 4, Saracens were bowled out for 229 runs. Malinda Pushpakumara took a five wicket hall for 93 runs and C de Silva captured three for 57.
