“The Institution of Incorporated Engineers Sri Lanka, was begun in
1977 and established by an Act of Parliament in 1992 with an Amendment
in 2000. But who are we? According to the international categorizing
there are three sections : Chartered Engineers, Incorporated Engineers
and Engineering technicians. We represent the Incorporated Engineers.
Our function is to utilize the existing technology in the most efficient
way. We have branches operating locally as well as internationally. Our
international branch is in UAE. We also engage in an activity involving
SAARC. The SAARC Diploma Engineers Forum was established 10 or 11 back.
In Sri Lanka the engineering sector is represented only by our
organization. Our organization also takes part in Toastmasters. Every
year we publish a technical journal,” said Event Manager Eng. Saman
Thalagala.
Institution of Incorporated Engineers, Sri Lanka has a membership of
over 4000 incorporated engineers at present working in Sri Lanka and
abroad. The institution obtained a 30 perches block of land from Urban
