Stephanie Elina Fernando a student of Good Shepherd Convent, Kandy an outstanding athlete, became the athlete champion in school for three successive years from 2011 in different age groups i.e. Under 10, 11 and 13.

Stephanie won 75 and 100 metres, long jump in the School Athletic Championship. She got the 1st place at the last Provincial Sports Meet held at the Bogambara Grounds organized by the Dept. of Education, Kandy.

She also set a new meet record for Long Jump (under 11) with a distance of 3.66 metres erasing the previous record of 3.25 metres set by D Amarasekera of Danture MMV in the year 2007. This meet record was set by Stephanie in the year 2012 at the Kandy District Athletic Championship organized by the KDAA. Her coach is S Vitharana of Kandy.
