JICA helps 13 hospitals

The Japanese International Corporation Agency (JICA) provided Rs. 345
million worth modern medical equipment for 13 state hospitals in the
country, a Health Ministry spokesman said.
He said two modern endoscopy machines and 14 modern computed
radiography machines were among the medical equipment provided by JICA.
The machines were handed over to Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena at
the Colombo South (Kalubowila) Teaching Hospital.
One endoscopy machine and two computed radiography machines were
handed over to the Colombo National Hospital. The other computed
radiography machines were given to Kandy, Peradeniya, Polonnaruwa,
Batticaloa, Karapitiya, LRH, Anuradhapura, Kurunegala, Ampara, Badulla
and Ratnapura hospitals, he said. The medical equipment are capable of
diagnosing diseases accurately and quickly. Japanese Ambassador Nobuhito
Hobo said more assistance will be provided to hospitals. |
