A cultural project has been launched to ensure archaeological site in
Dambadeniya, Kurunegala, Panduwasnuwara and Yapahuwa.
Archaeological excavation began in Yapahuwa to commence the project.
The conservation is carried out under the guidance of the Archaeology
Department.
Unhygienic food items detected

Food and Drug officers attached to the Regional Health Services
Office in Anuradhapura, raided 13 shops in the Anuradhapura town and the
suburbs and seized a stock of milk food items and fruit drinks unfit for
human consumption recently. A spokesman said four milk based food items
tested contain harmful bacteria. Legal action would be taken against the
errant traders, he said.
More grads to become teachers

The North Western Provincial Education Ministry will recruit 600
graduates for teaching posts.
In a survey conducted by the Provincial Ministry, it was revealed
that there are 800 vacancies in provincial council schools.
Tipsy driver fined

A driver who drove a vehicle under the influence of liquor, was fined
Rs 10,500 by Paldeniya Circuit Court Magistrate Rangani Gamage. His
driving licence was suspended for six months.Mahawela Police prosecuted.
