The importance of obtaining a globally recognized Chartered Accounting qualification offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) was underscored recently at a 'SisuNena' seminar, held in Negombo for the benefit of students sitting for the Advanced Level examination.

In keeping with its role as the country's national accounting body, CA Sri Lanka, successfully spearheaded a series of seminars under its "SisuNena" programme in its endeavor to enlighten and expand the knowledge of students in the commerce stream. The seminar held at Newstead Balika School in Negombo, saw a massive participation of over 400 students who had been provided with a thorough understanding on the importance of selecting a globally recognized professional qualification such as the course offered at CA Sri Lanka.

The seminar was a joint effort between CA Sri Lanka and Newstead Balika, Negombo and the students were addressed by Chartered Accountant Harendra Kariyawasam, who is also a Senior Lecturer of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, while Nirmala Costa, ACA, conducted the career guidance session in parallel to the seminar. Through the SisuNena seminar series, students are not only provided the necessary psychological boost necessary to face examinations with confidence, but the seminars were also a platform encouraging and edifying them to select their line of profession wisely. "Chartered accountants were the most sought after professionals, both in Sri Lanka and abroad. In a history spanning over five decades, the qualification offered by CA Sri Lanka has been recognized throughout the world and was a testament to this approximately 30 percent of our membership serving in various capacities out of Sri Lanka," CA Sri Lanka President Sujeewa Rajapakse said.

Chief Executive Officer of CA Sri Lanka, Aruna Alwis noted that students should not waste their precious years in confusion, but should instead consider a career path in the most sought after profession in the world today, which guarantees a job placement in any part of the world.
