Mahanama force a draw

Mahanama College, Colombo though enforced the follow on fought back
to hold Trinity College to a draw in their schools under 19 Division one
cricket tournament match concluded at the Asgiriya Stadium, Kandy
yesterday.
Trinity College batting first ran up a huge 302 for 4 declared with
four of their batsmen scoring half centuries.
Ron Chandragupta top scored with an elegant 75 (7 fours, 1 six 127
balls) useful contributions too came from opener Bhaghya Pallihawadana
66 (12 fours) and Vice Captain Rajitha Jayatunga 68 (12 fours, 102
balls).
Skipper Dinuk Wickramanayake scored an aggressive 57 not out which
included 4 sixes and 3 fours and faced only 35 balls.
Mahanama College in reply collapsed to 189 against the spin of
Lakshan Jayasinghe (3 for 43) and Dinuk Wickramanayake (3 for 37).
Pawan Devinda top scored for Mahanama with 82 which had 11 fours and
a six facing 102 balls. Mahanama following on 113 behind again had to
depend on Pawan Devinda to save them the match. He held the batting
together with a knock of 60 hitting 6 fours facing 87 balls.
Dinuk Wickramanayake had an outstanding match capturing a match haul
of 7 for 83 after scoring 57 not out.
Trinity College 302 for 4 declared in 61 overs (Bhaghya Pallihawadana
66, Lakshitha Dassanayake 20, Ron Chandragupta 75, Rajitha Jayatunga 68,
Dinuk Wickramanayake 57 not out, Chamara Silva 2 for 77, Dulanjana

Mahanama College 189 all out in 61.2 overs (Pawan Devinda 82, Thanula
Wickramasinghe 32, Nalin Silva 23, Lakshan Jayasinghe 3 for 43, Dinuk
Wickramanayake 3 for 37, Rajitha Jayatunga 2 for 13) and 162 for 9 wkts
67 overs (Senura Welagedara 24, Pawan Devinda 60, Nalin Silva 24,
Tharanga Madusanka 24, Dinuk Wickramanayake 4 for 46, Lakshan Jayasinghe
4 for 54).
