Original Jetliners Farewell Concert

DK Promotions who brought the original Jetliners for a reunion concert after 40 years in 2004 has once again come forward to get the members of the Jetliners together for a concert on March 3 at the Musaeus college Hall starting at 7 pm.

The most awaited musical reunion show of the Original Jetliners this time around will be their last performance together as a musical group.

One may consider The Jetliners as the pioneers in providing western music to the Sri Lankan music fans. Starting as a musical group in the early 60’s performing at the Coconut Groove, the Jetliners have entertained thousands of music fans.

The band which was managed by late Tony Fernando has introduced many musicians who are considered as some of the great names in the local music scene.

The performance in Sri Lanka as a group for the last time will commence on the 1 st March with a dinner dance at The Galadari Grand Ballroom who is also the host hotel starting at 9 pm. They will be supported by Sohan and X’ Periments and Damayantha & Vision.

The much awaited concert on March 3 at Musaeus college auditorium will feature Mignonne Fernando, Anton Gunawijeya, Indra Raj, Felix Fernando, Harris Jurangpathy, Conrad De Silva, and special guest from UK David Roberts. David has been singing in the UK for over 30 years, and has supported bands such as The Hollies, Herman Hermits, The Searchers and more.

The concert which will last for approx three hours will feature many hits made popular by The Shadows with Indra Raj playing the Hank Mervin instrumentals, Conrad singing hits made popular by Tom Jones and Englebert, David reliving the sounds of Sri Cliff and Elvis and Mignonne singing her originals and old classics.

The members of the Jetliners want this to be an unique experience as they want all their fans to remember this performance an unforgettable one.

The production of the concert will be that of an international event with Universal Sound Productions headed by Malinda Lowe handling the sound and Hussein of MOS lighting in charge of the lighting.

According to Damayantha the organizer of the concert, the enthusiasm for the concert has been immense and has decided to release tickets in advance in order to give everyone an opportunity to buy the tickets early.

The tickets will be on sale from Monday 28th till the 31st January from 11 am until 6 pm at the Galadari Hotel lobby.

It is recommended that you buy your tickets early as already many tickets have been reserved.
