arrival. The Chief Justice also called on Mahanayake of the
Asgiriya Chapter Most Venerable Udugama Sri Buddharakkhitha
Thera and received his blessings. |

January 17 alleging Police
inaction regarding an attack on two houses and five of the
inmates by a group who arrived
in a three-wheeler. The protesters later dispersed following
an assurance given by Police to look into their complaint.

External Affairs Minister Prof. G. L.
Peiris and Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga
briefed Ambassadors and High Commissioners accredited to
Colombo recently at the External Affairs Ministry on current
developments in the country. Emphasis was placed on
implementation of recommendations contained in the the
Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission Report in a
continuing time-frame. Detailed documentation was made
available to the diplomatic community. Representatives of
the United Nations system, as well as honourary consuls,
attended the briefing. |
