Bid to develop sports in nwp

"A sum of 12 million rupees has been allocated for developing sports activities in the NWP in 2013 by the NWP-PC. Sports clubs would be set up in each and every Grama Niladhari Division of both Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts of the NWP in 2013.

Ten selected public playgrounds would be modernized in both administrative districts. Under the supervision of sports officers, a programme to equip talented sportsmen and sportswomen in the NWP with excellent skills to compete national level and international sports events would be introduced in 2013," said Asoka Wadigamangawa, the Minister of Sports of the NWP-PC explaining Daily News on programmes to be launched in 2013 on sports field.
